Jul 21, 2023Sisters win blue ribbons at the 65th Annual Shippensburg Fair
Linda Pattison and Deb Tressler are sisters who enjoy the relaxing hobbies of macramé and crocheting. Last year Linda participated as an exhibitor in the Shippensburg Fair for the first time, and took home a blue ribbon for her macramé wall hanging. This year she entered a newly created Tree of Life macramé wall hanging and won her second blue ribbon.
Her sister, Deb Tressler, decided she would enter one of her crocheted pieces this year just to see if her talent would be recognized by the judges. To her surprise and delight, she won a blue ribbon for the crocheted shawl that she made earlier this year. “This is the first time I’ve ever entered anything at the fair; my sister talked me into it,” Tressler laughed. “I’m glad I decided to give it a try, and surprised but very happy that I won first place!”
She and her sister took time on Wednesday afternoon to look over all the entries in the home products building and were amazed at the variety of talent on display. “There are so many nice items this year, and so much talent on display,” Tressler said. I’m always amazed at the creativity of people,” Pattison added. “I think it would be a hard job to decide what pieces receive ribbons and how to determine which item to give first, second and third places to. I certainly wouldn’t want that job,” Tressler stated.
